B2B PR That Helps Your Business Get Found, Trusted and Remembered

Journalist-led PR for B2B founders, experts and growing businesses.

B2B PR does not have to mean corporate announcements, highly technical product launches or chasing mentions in obscure trade publications.

For many businesses, the strongest PR opportunities sit with the people, knowledge, experience and ideas behind the company.

At Fair Public Relations, we help B2B businesses turn founder expertise, leadership insight, industry knowledge, business stories, data and thought leadership into credible earned media coverage.

Our campaigns can include a mixture of national and consumer media, business publications and relevant specialist or trade titles, depending on where your expertise and stories genuinely fit.

The goal is straightforward: to help more people find your business, understand what you do, trust your expertise and recognise your name.

That visibility can support brand awareness, sales conversations, partnerships, referrals, recruitment, SEO, search visibility and the wider digital footprint around your business.

Several Ways to Build B2B Visibility.

Our B2B PR campaigns are not built around one single tactic.

Instead, we look at the different assets within your business and identify where there is genuine media potential.

Depending on your company, goals, expertise and sector, your campaign may include:

Expert Commentary

Positioning a founder, director, leadership team member or in-house specialist as a credible source journalists can quote when covering topics connected to their expertise.

This could include commenting on industry developments, explaining trends, offering advice, reacting to breaking news or helping journalists make complex subjects easier for their audiences to understand.

Thought Leadership

Turning the ideas, opinions and experience within your business into useful media angles.

Good thought leadership is not about producing generic opinions for the sake of visibility. It is about identifying subjects your business can credibly own and developing a clear point of view journalists and audiences may find valuable.

Founder and Leadership Visibility

Helping the people behind the business become more visible.

That could mean sharing the founder story, commenting on business issues, discussing lessons from building the company, contributing to leadership features, taking part in interviews or becoming a regular media source within an area of expertise.

Business News

Turning genuine company developments into PR opportunities.

This might include expansion, appointments, research, funding, partnerships, new locations, acquisitions, milestones, major hires, international growth, significant campaigns or other developments that have a credible editorial angle.

Data and Research

Using original data, customer insight, surveys, internal trends or industry analysis to create newsworthy stories.

For the right B2B business, proprietary information can be one of the strongest ways to contribute something genuinely new to the media conversation.

Founder and Business Stories

The business itself can sometimes be the story.

Journalists may be interested in how the company started, an unusual route into entrepreneurship, significant challenges, rapid growth, a change in direction, a personal experience behind the business or a wider issue the founder has direct experience of.

Interviews and Podcasts

Where appropriate, we may also identify interview, podcast and longer-form opportunities for founders, executives and specialists with a clear story, area of expertise or point of view.

We do not position ourselves as a podcast booking agency, but these opportunities can form part of a wider B2B visibility strategy when they make sense.

What B2B PR Means at Fair Public Relations

Our approach to B2B PR is centred on visibility, credibility and authority.

We are not trying to force your company name into every article.

Instead, we look at what journalists could genuinely use from your business.

That might be:

  • expertise

  • experience

  • opinions

  • industry knowledge

  • useful advice

  • original data

  • business insight

  • founder stories

  • leadership perspectives

  • market trends

  • customer behaviour

  • predictions

  • research

  • commentary on current events

The strongest campaigns usually give journalists something useful first.

Your business receives visibility because the insight, story or expertise behind it deserves to be part of the article.

B2B PR Is Different From Consumer Product PR

This is an important distinction.

We do not promote B2B products or services for product or service inclusion.

For example, we would not take a piece of business software and pitch journalists asking them to include it in a list of the best software platforms, or take a B2B consultancy and pitch it for inclusion in a roundup of recommended providers.

That type of direct inclusion opportunity is much more common in consumer PR, where journalists regularly create buying guides, gift guides, reviews, product roundups, travel recommendations, restaurant features and consumer service articles.

B2B PR works differently.

For a B2B company, we are much more likely to build the campaign around:

  • the expertise behind the business

  • the founder or leadership team

  • industry opinions

  • business trends

  • thought leadership

  • useful advice

  • market commentary

  • original research

  • data

  • company developments

  • founder stories

  • topical reactive opportunities

The business can still receive valuable visibility.

But the editorial reason for including you is usually the knowledge, story, perspective or information you bring to the article rather than simply the product or service you sell.

B2B PR for Brand Visibility

For many B2B companies, the objective is not simply to generate an immediate sale from a newspaper article.

PR can play a wider role in how the business is perceived.

A prospective customer may hear your company name and then Google you.

A potential partner may look at your website before arranging a meeting.

A prospect may compare you with another provider.

A candidate may research the leadership team before accepting a job.

An investor, supplier or referral partner may want to understand whether the business is credible.

Earned media can contribute to that picture.

Seeing the business, founder or leadership team referenced by credible publications can make the company feel more established and easier to trust.

It gives you independent evidence that other organisations have considered your knowledge, opinions or story worth publishing.

B2B PR for SEO and Search Visibility

PR and SEO are different disciplines, but they can complement one another.

Earned media can help create a broader digital footprint around your company, founders and areas of expertise.

Coverage may:

  • create additional references to your brand online

  • associate your company with relevant subjects

  • create editorial backlinks where a publication chooses to link

  • strengthen branded search results

  • create useful third-party proof

  • give prospective customers more credible information to find

  • build a more established online presence around founders and spokespeople

Not every article will include a backlink.

We cannot guarantee that a publication will link to your website, and we do not control the anchor text, follow status or placement of editorial links.

But over time, a strong body of earned coverage can form part of a broader SEO and authority-building strategy.

What About AI Search and AEO?

The way people research businesses is changing.

Potential customers increasingly use AI tools and search experiences alongside traditional search engines when researching companies, comparing providers and looking for expert information.

This makes having a clear, credible and well-established digital footprint increasingly valuable.

Earned media creates independent references to your business, people and expertise across third-party websites.

That can help create a richer body of information about:

  • who your business is

  • what you specialise in

  • who your experts are

  • what subjects they understand

  • where your company has been referenced

  • what publications have used your insight

We sometimes refer to this wider objective as AEO, or Answer Engine Optimisation.

However, we cannot guarantee that ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity or any other search or AI platform will reference your company.

There is no PR campaign that can legitimately guarantee that.

Our role is to help build the kind of credible third-party presence that can support wider discoverability across search, AI platforms and the web.

Thought Leadership That Journalists Can Actually Use

There is a lot of B2B content described as thought leadership.

Much of it is simply marketing copy with a more serious name.

Good media thought leadership is different.

Journalists need something interesting, useful, timely or genuinely informed.

That might mean:

  • explaining an industry change

  • challenging a common assumption

  • sharing a counterintuitive opinion

  • identifying an emerging trend

  • explaining what customers are getting wrong

  • making a prediction

  • responding to new legislation or policy

  • discussing changes in technology

  • offering practical advice

  • sharing real-world data

  • explaining what you are seeing within your customer base

  • providing a perspective based on direct professional experience

We help identify the subjects your business can credibly speak about and turn those ideas into journalist-friendly angles.

The objective is not to make every comment promotional.

It is to help your business become associated with useful ideas and credible expertise.

Founder and Leadership PR

For many B2B businesses, people buy into the people almost as much as the company.

That can be particularly true for consultancies, professional services firms, agencies, recruitment companies, technology businesses and other expertise-led organisations.

A visible founder or leadership team can give the business a more recognisable public identity.

We may help position:

  • founders

  • CEOs

  • managing directors

  • partners

  • senior consultants

  • subject-matter experts

  • technical specialists

  • HR leaders

  • finance experts

  • industry specialists

  • other credible spokespeople

The strongest spokesperson is not necessarily the most senior person in the company.

It is usually the person with the clearest expertise, strongest perspective and ability to contribute useful commentary quickly.

Your Expertise, Packaged for the Media

Where appropriate, B2B clients may be added to our Expert Directory. This gives journalists and media contacts a simple overview of who can speak on behalf of your organisation and what they can credibly discuss.

An expert profile can include:

  • name and title

  • company

  • professional background

  • credentials

  • areas of expertise

  • industry knowledge

  • thought leadership themes

  • useful opinions

  • location

  • website

  • LinkedIn profile

  • media room

  • availability for media opportunities

The Expert Directory does not replace active pitching.

It supports it by making your expertise easier for journalists to understand, search and use.

  • logistics and supply-chain businesses

  • founders and entrepreneurs

  • business coaches and advisers

  • training and education businesses

  • employment and careers platforms

  • data and research businesses

  • finance-related businesses where our PR model is appropriate

  • specialist B2B companies with credible in-house expertise

  • technology and SaaS businesses

  • professional services firms

  • consultants

  • agencies

  • recruitment companies

  • HR and workplace businesses

  • business service providers

  • software companies

Who B2B PR Is For

Our approach can work particularly well for businesses where knowledge, expertise, leadership or reputation are important parts of the buying decision.

This may include:

You do not need to operate in a glamorous industry.

You do need to have something journalists could genuinely use.

Are We a Specialist Technology or Finance PR Agency?

No.

Fair Public Relations is not a traditional specialist technology PR agency, financial communications consultancy or corporate communications firm.

We do work with businesses in technology, finance and other specialist industries where our approach is a good fit.

For those clients, our strength is generally in:

  • brand visibility

  • founder positioning

  • executive visibility

  • thought leadership

  • expert commentary

  • business stories

  • data-led stories

  • reactive commentary

  • earned media

  • SEO-supporting editorial visibility

  • wider search and AI visibility

If you require highly technical product communications, analyst relations, investor relations, financial-market communications, public affairs, lobbying or specialist corporate communications, we may not be the right agency.

We would rather be clear about that before you become a client.

How We Turn B2B Expertise Into PR

We start by understanding the business.

  • What do you want to be known for?

  • Who are you trying to reach?

  • What does your team genuinely understand better than most people?

  • Which issues do your customers care about?

  • What opinions or perspectives can you credibly own?

  • Where is there a human story?

  • What data or insight does the company have?

  • What is happening in your industry that you can help explain?

From there, we develop the strongest media opportunities.

Depending on the campaign, this can include:

  • identifying media-ready spokespeople

  • defining areas of expertise

  • developing thought leadership themes

  • creating journalist-friendly commentary

  • responding to relevant journalist requests

  • monitoring news for reactive opportunities

  • developing proactive story ideas

  • pitching business news

  • using data and research

  • developing founder stories

  • pitching expert commentary

  • approaching relevant podcasts and interview opportunities

  • following up with journalists

  • monitoring coverage

  • helping you build a stronger body of media proof over time

We handle the PR strategy, writing, pitching and follow-up.

You provide the expertise, information, approvals and input that make the campaign credible.

Good B2B PR Is Useful, Not Promotional

Journalists are not an extension of your sales team.

They do not normally want a paragraph explaining why your company is brilliant.

They need useful information for the article they are writing.

That is why some of the strongest B2B PR barely mentions the service being sold.

A cybersecurity company might contribute advice about online scams.

A recruiter might comment on salary negotiations.

An HR consultancy might explain changes in workplace culture.

A SaaS founder might discuss artificial intelligence.

A lawyer might explain a business issue in plain English.

A logistics business might analyse changes in online shopping.

The media value comes from the knowledge.

The commercial value comes from the fact that your company is associated with that knowledge.

Why B2B PR Can Take Longer

B2B campaigns can take longer to produce published coverage than some consumer PR campaigns.

That is important to understand before starting.

There can be fewer journalists covering a specialist B2B subject.

Trade publications may publish less frequently.

Some business magazines and industry titles work to longer editorial calendars.

A journalist may commission something weeks or even months before it appears.

An opportunity may require more specialist knowledge or more detailed input from your team.

There may also simply be fewer relevant stories for a very narrow industry than there are for broader consumer topics such as homes, health, travel, money or lifestyle.

As a result, B2B PR can have longer lead times between pitching and seeing published articles.

That does not mean nothing is happening.

During that period, we may be developing stories, responding to journalists, pitching commentary, speaking with editors and building relationships around future opportunities.

PR is not an instant-output service.

Some opportunities appear quickly. Others take considerably longer.

The strongest campaigns usually build momentum through consistent, relevant pitching over time.

Optional Advertorial, Sponsored and Contributor Opportunities

Some B2B and specialist publications also offer paid advertorial, sponsored content or commercial contributor opportunities.

These are not included within our Standard PR fee and they are not required to work with us.

Our core PR activity is focused on earned media.

However, for B2B businesses with an additional marketing budget, selected paid opportunities can sometimes complement a wider earned-media campaign and the brand's broader marketing activity.

For example, a respected specialist publication may offer:

  • sponsored thought leadership

  • advertorial

  • paid contributor content

  • commercial interviews

  • sponsored reports

  • paid industry features

  • other relevant partnership opportunities

Where we become aware of something that we think may genuinely be useful, we can flag it to you and help you assess whether it is worth considering.

Any payment would be made by you directly to the publication or provider. The money does not go to Fair Public Relations.

We do not add a media fee simply for passing the opportunity to you.

You decide whether you want to pursue it.

If you do, we can support you with the messaging and content side where appropriate, but the commercial arrangement remains between your business and the publication or provider.

An additional budget is therefore completely optional.

Many clients work with us entirely through earned PR.

For some B2B brands, carefully selected paid opportunities can complement their wider marketing activity alongside earned media, content, SEO, LinkedIn, events, advertising and other channels.

We will always make it clear whether an opportunity is earned or paid.

Earned Media and Paid Media Are Not the Same Thing

We believe this distinction matters.

Earned coverage is editorial coverage secured because a journalist or publication chooses to use your expertise, story, data or commentary.

Paid coverage exists because the brand has purchased a commercial opportunity.

Both can have value.

But they are different.

We will not present paid advertorial as earned media, and we will not use a client's PR fee to quietly purchase coverage.

Transparency is part of how we work.

  • brand awareness

  • founder visibility

  • executive positioning

  • thought leadership

  • credibility

  • authority

  • trust before sales conversations

  • partnership discussions

  • referral credibility

  • speaker profiles

What B2B PR Can Support

A strong B2B PR campaign can support:

  • recruitment

  • employer visibility

  • media logos and proof points

  • branded search presence

  • editorial backlinks where publications choose to link

  • SEO

  • AI and search visibility

  • a stronger LinkedIn presence

  • a wider digital footprint

A media article can also be reused throughout your wider marketing.

You might add coverage logos to your website.

Your sales team might include relevant articles in proposals.

A founder could discuss an article on LinkedIn.

An interview can be included in a speaker profile.

A media quote may support a pitch deck.

A published article can give prospects something independent to find when they research your business.

That is where PR becomes part of the wider marketing ecosystem rather than an isolated activity.

What B2B PR Cannot Guarantee

PR is earned.

That means journalists make the final editorial decision.

We cannot guarantee:

  • coverage in a particular publication

  • a fixed number of published articles every month

  • that every journalist will respond

  • that every pitch will become an article

  • that every article will include a backlink

  • a particular Domain Rating or Domain Authority increase

  • Google rankings

  • AI citations

  • website traffic

  • leads

  • revenue

  • sales

  • investment

  • partnerships

We can control the quality of the strategy, ideas, pitching, writing, follow-up and communication.

We cannot control independent editorial decisions.

Being clear about that is part of running PR fairly.

Is B2B PR Right for You?

Our B2B PR service could be a good fit if:

  • you have genuine expertise within the business

  • your founder or leadership team is willing to contribute

  • you want to build brand visibility over time

  • credibility matters in your sales process

  • your customers research you before buying

  • you have useful opinions or industry insight

  • you can respond to relevant media opportunities

  • you are comfortable with PR being an earned process

  • you want a mixture of national, consumer, business and trade opportunities where relevant

  • you are interested in thought leadership

  • you want to strengthen your wider digital footprint

  • you understand that B2B PR may take time

It may not be the right fit if:

  • your main objective is getting your B2B product included in product roundups

  • you want guaranteed coverage

  • you require a specific publication

  • you expect immediate results

  • you need specialist analyst relations

  • you require investor relations

  • you need lobbying or public affairs

  • you require highly technical product communications

  • you only want backlinks

  • you are unwilling to provide expertise or input

  • you want a completely hands-off campaign

  • you expect PR to guarantee sales

If we do not think our model is right for your business, we will tell you.

Why Fair Public Relations?

Fair Public Relations was created to make consistent, journalist-led boutique PR more accessible without the expensive retainers and long contracts commonly associated with traditional agencies.

Our approach is intentionally hands-on.

Our team helps develop the positioning, identify media opportunities, write pitches and commentary, contact journalists, follow up and monitor coverage.

We focus on earned media rather than large corporate communication programmes.

We are comfortable telling clients when we think an idea is unlikely to work.

We are equally happy to tell you when we think there is a stronger angle.

And if we do not believe we can help, we would rather say that before you spend money with us.

We use technology and AI to support parts of our process, but the PR itself remains journalist-led and human.

AI supports the process. Humans do the PR.

Ready to Build Your B2B Visibility?

If your company has genuine expertise, useful industry knowledge, credible people, interesting data or a business story worth telling, B2B PR could help you build a stronger public presence.

We can help turn those assets into journalist-friendly stories, commentary and thought leadership designed to build visibility, credibility and authority over time.

We will also be clear about the limitations.

We do not promote B2B products or services for editorial product or service inclusion.

We cannot guarantee coverage, backlinks, rankings or sales.

Some B2B publications have longer lead times, so campaigns can take longer to translate into published articles.

Optional paid advertorial, sponsored or contributor opportunities can sometimes complement the wider marketing mix, but they are not required; they sit outside your PR fee, and any media payment goes directly to the publication or provider, not to Fair Public Relations.

B2B PR is delivered through our Standard PR service.

Get in touch and tell us about your business, expertise and goals. We'll let you know where we think the strongest PR opportunities are and whether we think Fair is the right fit.
