Expert Commentary PR: Become a Media Source Without Doing the PR Yourself

You provide the expertise. Fair handles the PR.

You know your subject. What you might not have is time to monitor journalist requests, decide which are worthwhile, put your knowledge into a usable quote, find the right journalist and follow up.

Fair Public Relations helps credible professionals become more accessible to the media through a focused, done-for-you expert-commentary service.

We identify relevant opportunities, gather your input, prepare accurate responses, pitch directly to journalists and develop suitable proactive stories around subjects you can genuinely comment on.

This service is not a discounted version of full agency PR. It is for individual specialists who want their knowledge to contribute to the stories journalists are already covering, supported by a real editorially minded PR team.

Working monthly pricing: UK £397 | US US$497 | Canada CAD$747

Three-month initial commitment, then the agreed notice provisions. Final pricing and terms to be confirmed before publication.

Who is Expert Commentary PR for?

Journalists need credible sources who can explain developments, provide usable advice and share informed perspectives. You may be a:

  • architect

  • chef

  • fitness professional

  • HR or recruitment specialist

  • consultant

  • educator or another knowledgeable practitioner

  • doctor or healthcare professional

  • therapist

  • psychologist

  • accountant

  • lawyer

  • property specialist

  • interior designer

What matters is that your professional experience genuinely supports the subjects you want to discuss.

You do not need to be famous.

You do need a credible biography, evidence of your relevant experience, a willingness to explain your views and the ability to respond when time-sensitive journalist opportunities arise.

For regulated and sensitive topics, your qualifications and any professional restrictions must allow the commentary proposed.

Our suitability question is straightforward: could a journalist legitimately quote you as an expert in the subjects you want to discuss?

If the answer is yes, this service could suit you.

What Fair actually does

We monitor relevant journalist requests and news developments, identify the requests that are a genuine match for your expertise and check the subject and deadline. Where an opportunity is suitable, we ask for the specialist input needed to keep your commentary accurate, turn that information into a clear, concise, journalist-ready response, pitch it to relevant contacts and manage follow-up.

We can also identify topical developments, seasonal questions, useful trends and misconceptions where informed expert commentary could help a journalist's audience. That allows proactive outreach as well as responses to existing requests.

It does not mean we send generic press releases every week. Editorial relevance comes before volume.

You retain responsibility for the accuracy of your expertise and for reviewing facts where approval is needed. Fair manages the pitching process and keeps you informed through your client portal and updates.

Reactive opportunities and proactive media pitching

Reactive pitching can move quickly.

A journalist might be looking for a qualified therapist to explain a behavioural trend, an accountant to interpret a timely tax development or a designer to comment on a particular interiors question.

We assess the request, check suitability and prepare a response rooted in your real experience.

Proactive commentary lets us explore genuinely useful angles before a journalist sends a request.

For example, a workplace psychologist may explain a developing issue affecting employees, or a property specialist may provide context on a change in the housing market.

The angle must be accurate, current and credible, not simply a disguised advert for your business.

Up to two expert-commentary press releases per month

Where there is a genuinely suitable story, Expert Commentary PR can include up to two proactive expert-commentary press releases in a month. These are specialist, advice-led or reaction-led pieces built around what you actually know.

We research the editorial angle, gather your perspective, draft clear, attributable comments and pitch suitable media contacts.

That does not mean two releases will be produced regardless of newsworthiness. Nor does it include company announcements, product or service launches, fundraising, new premises, complex research campaigns or customer real-life stories.

Those belong to a broader campaign through Standard PR where appropriate.

DIY journalist requests or a PR team handling the work?

DIY source platforms and journalist-request newsletters can be helpful if you have the time to evaluate requests, prepare responses, pitch and chase outcomes yourself. This service is for people who would rather focus on their professional work while a PR team carries out those steps.

Fair:

  • identifies, filters and assesses opportunities

  • requests the necessary authentic expert input

  • drafts and pitches the material; follows up

  • manages journalist communications

  • monitors results

We also develop appropriate proactive expert-led angles.

We do not claim to operate our client delivery through journalist-request platforms, and we do not promise any named publication will use a response.

Credibility, earned media and your wider search presence

A suitable quote or expert contribution can place your name alongside a subject you genuinely understand.

Over time, useful third-party coverage may strengthen professional credibility, support referrals and give prospective clients additional independent information about your work. Some published articles include editorial backlinks, but journalists and publications decide whether to link.

Relevant press mentions can also help build an external evidence trail around your professional expertise that search engines and AI systems may encounter.

Fair does not guarantee backlinks, search ranking improvements, Google AI Overview appearances, ChatGPT recommendations or specific AI citations.

We focus on earning accurate, relevant editorial attention and reporting what actually happens.

Real people, sensible communication

Your work is managed by Fair's PR team rather than an unattended self-service dashboard.

We track outreach and published coverage, provide client-portal visibility and send a written progress update every month. You can contact the team through WhatsApp and arrange a call when there is something useful to discuss.

There are no scheduled recurring account-management meetings, no unlimited strategy consultations and no expectation of regular one-to-one access to Jordan after the initial sales and fit stage.

If you want a relationship built around ongoing senior strategy, campaign planning and account calls, Standard PR is likely a better fit.

What isn't part of the specialist service?

Expert Commentary PR does not include:

  • broader company publicity

  • product and service promotion

  • launch campaigns

  • founder-positioning strategy

  • an ongoing Founder & Authority Positioning Session

  • customer and real-life stories

  • complex data campaigns

  • unlimited bespoke content and press-release requests.

It does not include Lucy's positioning consultancy or Emma's real-life story development.

We will explain the scope before you sign up and discuss a move to Standard PR if your requirements change. The narrower service is a deliberate fit for a particular kind of work, not a substitute for broader agency support.

A simple starting process

First, tell us:

  • your profession

  • your experience

  • relevant qualifications, where applicable

  • the topics you can comment on

  • what you hope to achieve

We check suitability and may arrange a short introductory call with Jordan.

If your expertise and expectations fit, the team gathers your biography, approved specialist subjects, evidence, headshot where relevant, availability and preferences for media responses.

We then identify suitable journalist opportunities, prepare outreach and keep the activity visible through the portal.

Your input still matters: journalists may need quick confirmation, original insight or an interview, and inaccurate responses cannot be pitched simply to meet a deadline.

Participation in Fair's Media Expert Directory is considered where suitable rather than automatic.

When Standard PR is the better choice

If you want Fair to shape an overall campaign direction, position you as a founder, promote your business or products, publicise company developments, develop complex press stories or provide regular strategic account management, that is outside the scope of Expert Commentary PR.

Standard PR starts at £797 per month in the UK, US$997 per month in the US or CAD$1,497 per month in Canada. It includes:

  • broader journalist-led strategy

  • positioning

  • proactive campaigns

  • content

  • account-managed support.

Compare our services if you are unsure which fits.

Evidence, not guarantees

Our wider agency work includes genuine expert-led publicity campaigns.

You can review verified client case studies and examples of earned media coverage to understand the kinds of editorial opportunities we have handled.

Historical Standard PR results are examples of Fair's experience, not promises or performance results from this new service.
