GEO PR Agency: Earned Media for AI Search Visibility
Journalist-led PR that helps your business build credible public visibility across the web, alongside your SEO and wider GEO strategy.
Customers are increasingly using ChatGPT, Google AI and other AI-powered search experiences to research businesses. That makes the information people can find about your company, your expertise and your reputation more important than ever. Fair Public Relations helps founders, experts and growing brands develop genuine stories and expert commentary for journalists, creating opportunities for independent media coverage. We do not sell shortcuts into AI recommendations. We offer thoughtful PR that can contribute to the wider public information available about your business.

What is GEO PR?
GEO, or generative engine optimisation, describes efforts to improve how a business and its information can be discovered, understood and represented in AI-powered search. AEO, or answer engine optimisation, is a related term often used for making content useful in systems that answer questions directly. Neither replaces conventional search engine optimisation, and there is no single industry-wide definition of every activity sold as GEO.
GEO PR is the public relations contribution to that wider picture. A business's own website can explain who it is, what it offers and why customers should choose it. Earned media can add independently published information that describes the people, subjects, stories and experiences associated with the business. Together, these may give customers and online information systems more useful context.
This is not a claim that every media mention influences AI rankings or that we know the formula used by ChatGPT. The systems differ, change over time and do not guarantee that they will cite or recommend any particular company.
Why does earned media matter when people search with AI?
A business can appear in several different ways: its website might be cited as a source; its name might be mentioned; or it might actually be recommended to a prospective customer. Those outcomes are different. Being quoted in an independent publication does not automatically produce any of them.
However, genuine media coverage has well-established value beyond any AI algorithm. It helps relevant audiences discover a business, introduces credible spokespeople, provides independent reporting around genuine stories and sometimes earns natural editorial links. A specialist trade publication may be especially relevant to a narrow audience, while national media may reach a far wider one.
We believe it makes commercial sense for businesses to care about the quality and accuracy of their wider public profile as well as the words on their own website. Good PR can help create that profile. Whether or how a particular AI system later uses a given article must be evaluated carefully rather than assumed.
What Fair PR actually does
Position the business and its experts
We begin with what makes you genuinely interesting, credible and relevant to the people you want to reach. That may be the specialist knowledge of a founder, the professional experience of an expert, an original business story, a distinctive product or a useful service. We help translate those strengths into accurate, understandable media positioning.
Develop newsworthy angles and commentary
Journalists need more than a collection of brand keywords. They need timely stories, useful facts, fresh perspectives and people who can answer questions. Our team researches ideas and develops press-ready commentary, expert insights, interviews and other suitable editorial angles.
Pitch relevant journalists directly
Fair PR carries out journalist-led outreach. We do not operate campaigns through third-party journalist-request platforms as our delivery model. We identify suitable outlets, approach relevant editorial contacts, respond to suitable opportunities and follow up professionally. Editors make their own decisions about what to publish.
Build meaningful earned visibility over time
A one-off mention can be useful, but a clearer public profile often requires sustained work. We look for opportunities that fit your real subject expertise and commercial audience, rather than chasing unrelated headlines. Where journalists choose to publish, that creates an independently available record of what you or your business can contribute.
Report honestly on activity and results
We distinguish pitches and journalist interest from published coverage. We can discuss relevant editorial links and wider visibility where observable, but we will not present screenshots of a single AI answer as proof that PR caused an algorithmic recommendation.
Can PR help with ChatGPT, Google AI and other AI-search results?
Potentially, as one part of a wider visibility strategy. Public information about businesses may be retrieved, cited or summarised by AI-powered systems, and independent reporting can form part of the public material available. But these systems do not all work in the same way, and a relationship between editorial coverage and an AI recommendation is not automatically causal.
Google's guidance emphasises that the normal fundamentals of search and useful content remain important for its AI features. OpenAI provides guidance for publishers on allowing the OAI-SearchBot crawler to access public content where appropriate. Neither guidance amounts to a promise that PR placements will secure recommendations.
That is why we approach GEO-related enquiries through the work we genuinely control: sound positioning, expert commentary, relevant media opportunities and credible stories. Your website's technical health, analytics engineering and specialist search tools remain separate considerations.
What is included, and what isn't?
INCLUDED IN STANDARD PR WHERE RELEVANT TO THE AGREED CAMPAIGN:
A tailored journalist-led campaign direction.
Founder, expert, product or service positioning.
Newsworthy research and story development.
Press release and expert-commentary writing where suitable.
Proactive pitching and relevant reactive journalist opportunities.
Professional follow-up and account-managed communications.
Media monitoring and clear PR progress reporting.
These are components of an ongoing PR service, not a guarantee that every campaign receives every story type each month.
NOT OFFERED AS A STANDALONE TECHNICAL GEO SERVICE:
Website development or technical SEO implementation.
Guaranteed ChatGPT or Google AI placements or rankings.
Control over journalists, publishers, platform crawlers or citations.
Guaranteed editorial backlinks.
Specialist enterprise AI-citation software or analytics engineering.
Paid media placement disguised as independent editorial coverage.
Where a website has serious technical or content problems, we may recommend resolving those with the right SEO or development specialist. PR and technical GEO can complement one another without being the same service.
Who is GEO-conscious PR suitable for?
Founders and entrepreneurs
For founders with genuine business experience and relevant stories, media commentary can help build a more recognisable and credible professional profile.
Professional experts and consultants
Specialists in established fields may contribute useful insight to trade, specialist or broader consumer and business reporting. Expertise must be relevant, accurate and substantiated.
B2B businesses and technology firms
Trade publications, relevant business coverage and executive commentary can be valuable where the audience is specialised. Meaningful coverage matters more than choosing publications purely by size.
Consumer brands and service businesses
Product stories, legitimate reviews where suitable, practical expert advice and credible customer-facing topics can create relevant awareness. No product or service is automatically newsworthy.
Small businesses improving their reputation
An independent business may be better served by clear website information, a useful reputation and targeted earned coverage than by an expensive unscoped GEO package. We will say so if technical or operational foundations need work first.
Evidence from journalist-led PR, not invented AI outcomes
-

One Less Thing
Our One Less Thing campaign offers an example of traditional digital PR impact. The approved case study records 38 published articles and 35 editorial backlinks during the first 12 months, alongside a third-party Moz Domain Authority change from 0 to 19.
-

Spectrum Search
For clients with specialised expertise, our Spectrum Search case study provides another example of building relevant editorial visibility around a B2B business and its leaders.
What does GEO-related PR cost?
There is no separate technical GEO product or AI-ranking package to buy from Fair PR. Our ongoing Standard PR service is priced at £797 per month for UK clients, US$997 per month for US clients and CAD$1,497 per month for Canadian clients, subject to the live service details and terms. It begins with a three-month initial commitment, followed by the standard notice terms.
That retainer funds genuine PR work, including campaign thinking, writing, journalist pitching and account support. We do not charge a special premium simply because AI search is one of your wider business objectives.
If you are looking primarily for advanced technical SEO, website engineering or software-based AI citation analysis, that should be scoped separately with a suitable specialist.
How can you tell whether the PR is working?
Start with media outcomes that can be observed: where coverage appeared, whether it is relevant, what it says about your business, whether suitable editorial links were included and whether you are reaching the audiences that matter to you. In the wider business, look at enquiries, referral traffic and the quality of prospects, without attributing every change to PR alone.
For AI search specifically, distinguish a website citation from a brand mention or recommendation. A customer's statement that ChatGPT helped them discover a company can be useful, but isolated chatbot screenshots are not a reliable ranking study. A wider baseline, repeated relevant buyer prompts and enquiry attribution can help inform decisions, while still carrying uncertainty.

Still Have Questions? We’ve Got You
-
We are a journalist-led public relations agency offering earned-media work that may complement a wider GEO or AI-search strategy. We are not presenting ourselves as a full technical SEO or GEO engineering agency.
-
Relevant coverage creates public information about a business and its expertise, but no PR agency can guarantee a ChatGPT mention, citation or recommendation, or prove that a particular press article caused an AI outcome without appropriate evidence.
-
Our core service is PR. We do not offer technical SEO implementation as part of Standard PR, although legitimate editorial links, media coverage and professional positioning can have wider SEO and reputation benefits.
-
The terms overlap and are used differently across the industry. AEO generally focuses on answer-oriented discovery, while GEO often refers to visibility in generated answers. Both sit alongside conventional SEO rather than replacing it.
-
No. Journalists and publishers decide their editorial presentation and linking policies. We cannot promise a hyperlink in every article. Relevant unlinked coverage can still offer meaningful visibility and credibility.
-
No. We control the quality and relevance of our outreach, but not editorial publication, search ranking algorithms or AI-answer generation.
-
That depends on your actual problem. Businesses with inaccessible or unclear websites may need technical help first. Businesses with credible expertise and a functional website but little independent recognition may have a stronger case for journalist-led PR.
-
PR is an ongoing process. Some journalist opportunities may arise quickly, but broader reputation-building often takes months. There is no fixed timetable for search or AI-system changes, and outcomes are never guaranteed.
