Bio:
Professor Prokar Dasgupta OBE FRCS HonFREng is one of the UK's leading urological surgeons and a globally recognised expert in robotic surgery, prostate cancer and bladder health. He was Professor of Surgery at the Surgical Academy at King's Health Partners, Consultant Urologist at Guy's Hospital, and was the first Professor of Robotic Surgery and Urology at King's College London. With more than 1,100 published articles, over 600 peer-reviewed papers and 10 books to his name, Professor Dasgupta is a respected authority on advances in urological surgery, minimally invasive procedures, robotic technology and men's health.
Throughout his career, Professor Dasgupta has pioneered several breakthrough techniques, including developing the UK's first outpatient Botox treatment for overactive bladder, now widely known as the "Dasgupta technique", and leading one of Britain's earliest robot-assisted kidney transplant retrieval procedures. He has also helped advance the use of 3D-printed models in prostate cancer surgery and served as Editor-in-Chief of BJU International from 2013 to 2020. His contributions to surgery and science have been recognised with numerous honours, including an OBE, the Padma Shri from the Government of India, the BAUS St Peter's Medal, and Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
